What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling (also called collagen induction therapy or CIT) at Always Beautiful Medspa serving Aurora and Denver, CO, involves the use of a hand-held device that uses tiny needles to pierce the skin. These micro needles create invisible, vertical, micro perforations into the epidermis and top layer of the dermis, which will induce your skin’s natural healing process.
What Can Microneedling Do?
Microneedle Therapy has also been shown to improve hyperpigmentation, the appearance of acne scars, and increase circulation resulting in healthier skin. As your skin heals from the treatment, it starts producing collagen and elastin to repair the micro-perforations. Increased collagen and elastin production has been shown to lift and tighten the skin while improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Studies show that microneedling therapy can produce equal and even greater results than laser therapy. Unlike laser treatments, Microneedling can be performed on any skin type and color. Another positive difference between microneedling and lasers is there is much less downtime after microneedling than with laser treatments.
Who Can Perform Microneedling?

Aftercare
Recovery after microneedling treatment is much easier than you think. Immediately following the treatment most people are moderately pink to red as if they have a sunburn. Your skin may feel sensitive and warm, which is normal and should subside after a couple of hours. The next day skin may still appear pink or red, but sensitivity should be minimal to none. Mild flaking may occur over the next week as skin rebuilds and renews. Post-procedure products will be used for 3-4 days after the treatment to ensure proper healing and rejuvenation. Normal skincare routine and makeup application can then be resumed.
