Your Kybella Treatment Process

Kybella is injected with a very tiny needle into numerous spots under the chin. Your healthcare provider will administer Kybella to the fat under your chin using multiple injections. Each 15-20-minute noninvasive treatment improves the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin. You will experience some swelling after your Kybella injections. The more fat you have, the more likely you will have swelling.

Many patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 treatment sessions. We recommend up to 6 treatments, with at least one month between sessions.

Who is a Candidate for Kybella?

Whether we like to admit it or not – most of us have some degree of a double chin, so most of us could use a little Kybella. But there is one exception. For some people, their double chin isn’t due to fat accumulation under their chin; it’s due to serious sagging in their skin in this area.

When skin is the issue and not fat accumulation, a surgical neck lift or facelift would remove that extra loose skin. Schedule an appointment today to be evaluated by a national expert at Always Beautiful!

Is Kybella Painful?

Most patients say they feel little more than a slight pin prick with each injection. As Kybella actively seeks fat cells to eliminate, patients tend to notice a warming sensation. This is followed by a dull ache, which then goes numb to the touch. Most patients experience this entire process before leaving the office and do not experience discomfort.

Taking Tylenol 30 minutes before the injection of Kybella can lessen these sensations. We do not recommend taking Ibuprofen, as it is a blood thinner that discourages the inflammation response necessary for successful treatment.

Kybella Results

Your results begin to show up 4-6 weeks after your treatment. That gives the body time to break down and remove most fat cells. Those results will continue to improve, and your profile will slim and tighten. Most patients do not see a significant result after only one treatment, as at least two treatments are necessary. Based on your needs, meeting with our Kybella expert can help create a treatment plan to reach your goals.

Kybella breaks down fat, and once the fat is gone, the area’s ability to store fat is reduced. This is what tightens your profile. Your skin can still sag some with age, but your new slimmer profile is yours for the long haul. While individual results vary, maintaining a healthy lifestyle with Kybella treatments can be transformational.

How Much Does Kybella Cost?

As you might expect with any cosmetic treatment, the cost varies on the individual. These skin care treatments are customized to meet your individual needs. However, the base of the cost you can anticipate is the vial of medicine. Each vial of Kybella is about $500, so your pricing will depend on the number of injections needed. Our team is happy to provide you with clear costs upfront so that you can feel comfortable and confident in your decision.

Are There Side Effects with Kybella?

Swelling is pretty standard, although not really a side effect. As Kybella attacks the fat cells, it creates swelling in the area, especially after the first treatment. There can also be some slight bruising. This will start to resolve itself after around three days for most patients.
These are the common side effects after treatment and resolve themselves:

  • Numbness
  •  Swelling
  •  Redness
  •  Bruising
  •  Residual pain
  •  Areas of hardness in the treatment area

Nerve injury along the jawline did occur during clinical trials which can create an uneven smile and some weakness in the surrounding facial muscles. In clinical studies with 1600 patients, these side effects were not long-term and resolved on their own in about a week. No long-term side effects have been presented with Kybella injections. As always, individual experiences will vary.
