DYSPORT
Dysport® is an injectable medication known as a neuromodulator designed to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the glabellar lines (eyebrows), forehead creases, and crow’s feet. Like Botox, Dysport is used to relax the underlying muscles, reducing wrinkles. Dysport is injected directly into the muscle underneath a furrow and weakens it to the point where it can no longer contract. Dysport is made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and has been shown to deliver temporary improvements for forehead furrows, frown lines, crow’s feet and skin bands on the neck.
How Does Dysport® Work?
Dysport is injected with a very thin needle directly into facial muscles that are causing wrinkles. The injection area can be numbed with ice packs or a topical anesthetic cream to help reduce any pain.
Dysport results can usually be seen within a few days after treatment. The overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled and this generally last up to 3-4 months, although areas that are treated regularly may retain results longer.
What Is The Difference Between BOTOX® And Dysport®?
Although they are both made from the same bacterium, there is some evidence that Dysport injections may last longer and spread farther. The results from Dysport injections may also be visible more quickly than BOTOX results.
